My phone gets hot when I film. Is that a problem?
By Con, founder of Music Wide Selfie · Updated 22 October 2026
Short answerWarm is normal during long, high-resolution recording, especially in sun. Use a lower resolution for long takes, keep the phone out of direct sun, remove thick cases, and stop if the phone warns you.
- 4K and 60 FPS make more heat than 1080p or 1440p at 30 FPS.
- Charging while recording adds heat.
- Shade the phone outdoors.
- Let it cool between long takes.
Music Wide Selfie's Recording Health is designed to warn about heat, storage and battery, and to stop safely while keeping the video.
